Information on our pre-season friendly games
Even though the 2015/2016 season has only just finished, Ian Street and his team have been very busy arranging 1874’s summer friendly games. This is a very important but time consuming task and therefore Ian is pleased to have finalised a challenging programme.
We will start with a visit to Alsager Town, who will be hoping for a successful season in 2016/2017, to enable them to bounce back to the Premier League. We then make a return trip to Sandbach United, our hosts in a friendly during the Christmas break. Our third game will take us into Staffordshire and a first visit to Kidsgrove Athletic, which will provide another stern test for the team.
Following an enjoyable visit to Conwy Borough last summer, which saw many 1874 supporters take advantage of a weekend stay in North Wales, we are delighted to return to our friends at the Y Morfa Stadium. We received a very warm welcome from everyone at the club and we are therefore looking forward to our second visit.
Next in the programme will see us travel to Evostik side Prescot Cables, who we played in our first FA Cup campaign in September 2014. Again, this will be another strong test for our players.
Finally, we are very pleased to be able to welcome the oldest football club in Wales to the Barton Stadium. Our last game before the League season starts will see us play Cefn Druids, newly promoted to the Welsh Premier League. Cefn Druids are a good, footballing side and will therefore provide a valuable workout before the North West Counties season starts on Saturday 6 August.
