’74 Legend Agrees to Stay with the Club this Summer

1874 Northwich are pleased to confirm that Legend Matt Woolley has agreed to remain at the club for the forthcoming season.

Matt, 33, joined the club during our first season in 2013 and made his debut on the 28th of December 2013 away to Widnes. He replaced Steven Crane in the 79th minute and it has only been up from there.

Now totalling 406 competitive appearances for the club, he has consistently performed well. Matt has mostly played in midfield, but also covering in defence when needed and some short stints in attack and between the sticks.

Chris Herbert commented “It was huge to get Jonah and Woolley across the line, they love this club, they know what is needed to be a success at 1874 Northwich. They are leaders on the pitch and command the respect of the players around them as well as the fans. If we are to challenge for honours it was imperative that we keep them both at the club, they will take us in to battle next season leading from the front.”

Glad to keep you here Matt, here is to many more record appearances!
