A message for 1874 Supporters – Macron Cup Final

The Board of 1874 Northwich knows that football is a passionate game and supporters can be completely immersed in it and have various ways of showing their support.  Positive support is hugely welcomed as it adds to a good environment on a matchday and experience for all.  However, if behaviour is less than positive and where it jeopardises the safety and enjoyment of others attending a match, it is likely to bring 1874 Northwich into disrepute and the club would face a charge.

1874 is well supported and enjoys an excellent reputation for good behaviour, both on and off the field.  However as we head into the high profile and very prestigious Macron Cup Final tomorrow, the club would like to issue a timely reminder to its supporters that anti-social behaviour, racial, discriminatory or obscene chanting, encroaching onto the field of play or having possession of a smoke bomb is unacceptable and any supporter found to be in breach of these conditions, will be excluded from the ground, and could face a ban and may be subject to criminal proceedings.

The Hallmark Security League have also announced that supporters must not bring alcohol into the ground and that there will be bag searches on entry for safety reasons.  The League and Altrincham FC reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed unfit to enter the ground.

1874 has worked with the League and has agreed to provide club representatives to liaise with Altrincham Stewards, to offer advice and support to our supporters before and throughout the game.

Our supporters are at the heart of everything and we are proud of how we conduct ourselves as a football club.  We enjoy the matchdays and support our team, whatever the result.  We know that everyone from 1874 will continue to represent our wonderful club, the way in which we all expect.

Thank you and enjoy the final !

1874 Northwich v Whitchurch Alport – match rearrangement

Following the difficult situation in having to abandon Tuesday evening’s game, due to floodlight failure, the two clubs have agreed to reschedule the match on Thursday 25 April 7.45pm.  1874 officials have been in close contact with Winsford United and they are taking urgent action to rectify the problem, therefore we will plan to play the evening game at the St Luke’s Barton Stadium.

We appreciate that the abandonment was disappointing and inconvenienced everyone in attendance.  Therefore, the Board of 1874 Northwich has agreed that there will be free entry for all supporters at the rearranged game next Thursday.  However, we are mindful that we need to cover the costs associated in staging the game and therefore if supporters wish to make a voluntary contribution towards these costs, then of course it would be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you

1874 Members to have a say on the Club’s Away Kit

After a 20 day consultation period, we would like to not just thank our fans, but those from the wider football community who helped take part in this process. As a club we received a huge number of kits with a wide variety of designs which is key as we take the next steps in creating our new away kit.

At a meeting this week with our sub-committee, we discussed at length various options in order to create the best outcome for everyone at the club and how best to incorporate the vast talents of artist Phil Galloway, who we are looking forward to collaborating with on this project.

The aim of this week’s meeting was to work out the main colour options that appeared the most frequent. After this meeting, we settled on 4 colour choices which we deemed the most popular during the consultation period. These are as follows

  • Lilac/light purple
  • Light blue
  • Light grey
  • Pink

At this point we ask all Members to have their say and vote for their favourite colour choice from the options above. The vote will be open from the 26 March-1 April, so we encourage members to return their votes promptly.

To vote, please send an email stating your preference for the main away kit colour as either Lilac / Light Purple, Light Blue, Light Grey or Pink to our Company Secretary Rob Ashcroft – robertashie@aol.com. Please note, only one choice per member and you must also include your name, and not just your email, on the reply.

If any Member does not currently have access to emails, then please text/phone the Club on 07975 679624 or chat to any member of the 1874 Board at the matches against Squires Gate at home (Tuesday 26th) or at Congleton Town (Saturday 30th).

We really want to create a memorable kit which has a story and means something to each and every 1874 fan on a match day.

We will keep fans updated and make another statement shortly when the colour choice has been announced and to inform you on the next few stages we will go through.

Matthew Waters – 1874 Media Officer

Club Sponsor – Britannia Carpets

1874 Northwich is absolutely delighted to announce that Britannia Carpets have agreed to continue their sponsorship of our football club.  This is very welcome news, Britannia Carpets is a popular, local, family run business renowned for quality and customer service and 1874 has been proud of its association with them since the club was formed.  During the discussions, Britannia Carpets highlighted that they were extremely pleased how the link with the club had developed over the last six years and they had no hesitation in wanting that to continue in the future.

We would like to sincerely thank Britannia Carpets for their support and friendship and look forward to continuing the close relationship we have with them in the future.

1874 is extremely grateful to all of the local companies that offer their support and we would urge supporters to use their services whenever possible.

An 1874 Racing success

1874 Race Night

On Saturday, 1874 Northwich held another extremely successful Race Night.

Thankfully, the horrible weather did not put people off and the room at the Gladstone Club was filled with happy punters, hoping to beat the ‘Bookie’.  An enjoyable night was had by all and we are thrilled to advise that a magnificent and record breaking £1,152 was raised for club funds.

Our sincere thanks go to Toddy and the Social & Fundraising Committee, along with the volunteers on the evening for their assistance.  We would also like to thank all the sponsors of the races and owners of the horses for their generous support, the Gladstone Club for hosting us and everyone for attending.

Kyle Riley

1874 supporters will know that over the last few months, Kyle has not been able to be play due to an ongoing illness. It is with huge sadness that the club must advise that Kyle has needed to take the heart-breaking decision to end his football career. This decision has been made, following the medical advice that he has been given.

Kyle has asked that the Club send out the following message

“I would like to thank all the lads that I have played with at 1874. I have been in contact with them and have told them what a very special set of guys they are and what a fantastic dressing room we have. I would also like to thank Wayne Goodison and Paul Bowyer for giving me the opportunity to play for the club, for listening to my moans but for enabling me to love my football.

The biggest thank you has to go to all the fans, who made me feel so welcome from day one. I will never forget seeing so many supporters in ‘Kyle masks’ at the game, that was a special moment, it certainly lifted my spirits. The banter during my time at ’74, has been outstanding and I will always appreciate the relationship I have had with the supporters, I always tried to give my best in return.

Football has been my life and as everyone will appreciate, I am completely devastated but I have to be sensible and listen to the advice of the experts. 1874 is in my blood and I will be at games as much as I can and will stand side by side with the fans. Thank you so much to everyone”

On behalf of everyone at 1874, I would like to send our love and support to Kyle at this hard time for him. We completely understand that this is the only option for Kyle, which is a very hard one however we are very pleased that he will remain involved with our Club. He is part of our 74 family.
