On the 3rd of June 2016, representatives of 1874 Northwich were invited to attend the Cheshire FA Awards ceremony at the prestigious Carden Park Hotel near Chester.
A short time earlier the club had been informed that following an online nomination process, 1874 Northwich FC had been shortlisted as one of the finalists in the category Social Media and Technology.
This category rewards clubs that have shown innovation in the use of new technology and social media in the promotion of the on and off field activities of the football club.
1874’s nomination highlighted the clubs use of social media such as Twitter, Facebook and the prominent use of an active club website, including the excellent 1874TV, to provide accurate and entertaining information regarding the club’s activities.
Nominated in a category of three alongside Egerton FC and Runcorn Linnets JFC, all three club’s had shown an excellent appreciation of the use of new technology in the promotion of their team.
During the award ceremony, Cheshire FA recognised such diverse contributions to grassroots football as Facility of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year plus a range of other awards.
As the award for Social Media and Technology was announced, it was wth great pride and a ittle suprise that 1874 Northwich were presented with the winners trophy. The award ensured that the name of 1874 Northwich FC was heard in the correct footballing circles for the correct reasons. Another small step in the progress of our club.
Following the presentation of the awards, Cheshire FA held a charity auction in aid of our first ever charity partner Ciaren’s Cause. This excellent charity is now the nominated charity partner of Cheshire FA, who kindly mentioned that their involvement with Ciaran’s Cause came about following an introduction by 1874 Northwich FC.
The club would like to put on record their appreciation and thanks to all the volunteers who have contibuted towards this award.
