Chris Herbert Bolsters Squad with Gill and Nolan Signings

1874 Northwich are excited to announce that Luke Gill and Lewis Nolan have registered with the club for the remainder of the season.

Luke registers from Clitheroe where he scored 3 goals this season for the NPL West side, having joined from West Cheshire League’s Vulcan FC.

Chris Herbert commented on his new signing:

“Gilly is a pacey striker with an eye for goal. We felt like we want the extra fire power going it to the last four games so we are completely ready for the playoffs and the squad is settled and scoring more goals than we currently are.”

“He gives us extra pace in behind and his movement is good, the Riff Raff will love his work rate and his eagerness to work hard, he is tireless and very fit. He will add the extra pace that every defender fears.”

“It’s an extra string to our bow as a strike force, and will join Shaun Weaver, Eden Bailey, Joel Jones and Mark Reed so we have 5 very good options up front, whether it’s in a two man strike force or a 3, we now have the right options.”

Lewis, 19, registers from Runcorn Linnets, who he joined from Crewe Alexandra back in September. Whilst at Crewe, Lewis also featured three times for the senior side in the EFL Cup.

Chris Herbert added:

“We were made up to get Lewis in, I spoke to Cookie (Runcorn Linnets manager) about bringing Lewis in to 1874 Northwich, and he has been great in letting him come to us until the end of the season.”

“We have a lot to play for and Lewis will be huge for us. Especially now that Matt Woolley is more than likely to be ruled out for the season with a torn calf muscle from lats Saturday’s game against Wolverhampton Casuals.”

“It was important we replaced Woolley with real quality, and Lewis has that. He has played first team games at Crewe Alexandra only last season. He has good pace, good size, technically has quality, and hopefully he can settle in quick and help get the service for our striker and create chances.”

“We needed the extra quality we have bought in to really bolster the squad ready for the play offs, covering all bases, and to give ourselves the best chance possible to compete the way we would like. Now it’s on us as a management team and playing squad to work hard towards achieving our goals and really push on as a tight and together squad ready to go to war on the pitch for the club.”

We would like to thank the respective clubs for their help with this.

Welcome to ’74, Luke and Lewis!
