MITCHELL ARRIVES LATE AGAIN!
HALLMARK SECURITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
1874 NORTHWICH FC 1 V 0 WINSFORD UNITED FC
When Ryan Mitchell scores for 1874 it is usually late in the game and almost every time it is a very important goal and so it was when Ryan pounced in the 90th minute of this game to secure all three points for 1874 in an exciting local derby.
In truth there was some doubt as to whether the goal should have been allowed as Winsford defenders stood still waiting for an offside decision that never came but in all fairness 1874 themselves were somewhat amazed minutes earlier when the referee blew his whistle – for a bad tackle on Lee Jackson – but 1874’s play had taken them into the Winsford area to create a good opportunity of opening the scoring.
In many ways this encounter was game of two halves as Winsford were quick out of the blocks and they created a good few chances but they found 1874’s custodian – Greg Hall – in fine form and he produced a few good saves to thwart Koral and his fellow attackers.
But then in the second half 1874 enjoyed more of the possession and as such created more chances with McGowan, Jones and Kennerley all having reasonable attempts on goal without causing Winsford’s keeper Green too much trouble.
1874: Hall; Connor; Lee Jackson; Pritchard; Mitchell; Jones; Matt Woolley; McGowan; Fallon & Kennerley. Subs Riley Freakes & Waite-Jackson – unused subs: Russell & Jack Woolley.
Referee: Daniel Hitchell Attendance: 28
Goal keeper Greg Hall is presented with his man of the match award by
3 Generations of the Ross family. Don Ross, his son and his grandson.
