HIND SECURES ALL THREE POINTS FOR 1874
BARNTON 2 V 3 1874 NORTHWICH

After twice taking the lead in this competitive derby 1874 were pegged back by a resilient Barnton side and had to rely on substitute Sam Hind scoring late on to secure all three points that moved his team a few places up the table and left the home side still searching for their first league win of the season

Both team started slowly but 1874 were the first to create a goal-scoring opportunity but Kennerley’s shot was deflected for a corner form which Pritchard headed over.

However, 1874 took a deserved lead in the 28th minute although it could be considered to be a tad fortunate as Kennerley’s free-kick was deflected into the path of Jake Parker allowing hi to nudge the ball into the net.

The home team tried to get back level as skipper Chris Smith had two chances but he miss-hit his first whilst the second effort necessitated Greg Hall to make a comfortable save to protect the lead.

1874 were forced to reshuffle when Jack Lever limped off with a knee injury, switching Lee Jackson to right-back with substitute Ben Woods taking the left back role and the interval arrived without any further chances being created by either side

However, it was different on the resumption as both teams created chances as Hall produced a reactive save to thwart Irlam’s close-range header whilst a few minutes later at teh other end the Barnton keeper Cooke had to be smart to deal with Scott McGowan’s glancing header.
Barnton drew level on 51 minutes when Chris Bandell ran on to a long through ball that caught out the 1874 defence and Bandell lobbed the ball over the advancing Hall.

Soon after 1874 nearly regained the lead but Cooke produced a brilliant save to tip over McGowan’s header.

However Scotty was not to be denied though, and jabbed a loose ball over the line on the hour after Ryan Mitchell’s header at a corner dropped kindly into his path.

The large travelling supporters might have then thought that the game was won but Barnton had other ideas and in the 76th minute another equaliser arrived courtesy of Smith applying the finishing touch to a good cross from Malone

However the scoring hadn’t finished and 1874 had the last say in the matter when in the 80th minute two of their substitutes combined well as Kyle Riley paid the ball backwards into the path of Same Hind who’s well hit strike went through a crowd of players and into the Barnton net to secure all three points for 1874
