1874 ARE QUICK OUT OF THE BLOCKS AT PADIHAM
PADIHAM 0 V 3 1874 NORTHWICH FC
HALLMARK SECURITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION TUES 17TH APRIL 2018 .
Having to play their fifth game in twelve days (it could have been worse i.e. seven games in twelve days save for two games being postponed due to the weather) 1874 got back on the winning track after a defeat in their last game at Charnock Richard.
The win was even more sweeter for all concerned as all of their last four wins have also been secured without conceding a single goal and at times in this latest game the strong 1874 back five of Hall, Connor, Mitchell, Pritchard & Russell were severely tested but they all came through with flying colours.
It should also be noted that without the services of Mark Jones & Matt Woolley in the centre of their midfield Sam Freakes and Jake Parker were more than suitable “deputies”
1874 started the game very much on the front foot and took an early lead through Parker who scored from close in after good build-up play.
Being very much on the “front foot” at this stage 1874 increased their lead as leading goalscorer Scot McGowan netted twice after 16 and 20minutes to take his season’s tally to 34 and although there were no further goals in the game there were certainly chances created by both teams
The home side never looked like “throwing the towel in” as they continued to press forward at every opportunity to get back in the game but Greg Hall and his centuries help firm to record the much coveted “clean sheet”
