1874 Northwich boss Chris Herbert has hailed the squads impressive pressing, which has led to fast starts in both of the two victories as his side prepare to travel away to Brocton tomorrow night.
“It was very much like the game last week at Stockport Town. We were excellent in the first half, against a good Lichfield City side that will be challenging at the right end this season.”
“We went 2-0 up and if we were more clinical could have easily been 3-4. They were good chances and we do need to be a bit more clinical, but that will come with games and confidence.”
“We create a lot of chances and we will always get goals, we just need that little bit more ruthlessness and we will be fine.”
“We are aggressive in the press and it puts teams on the back foot which lets us box them in their half for long periods and that’s where we will have to take advantage of our early dominance when it happens.”
“This style of play lets us win possession and get our ball players on the ball like Jacson Coppack and Jack McKean.”
Liam Fitzpatrick starred in the win at the weekend, picking up the man of the match award. On Fitzpatrick, the ’74 boss was quick to heap praise on the standards that he has set since arriving at the club.
“Fitzy has been outstanding since he come in with us.”
“He sets the tone of the game with his aggressive style of pressing and it gives the lads that boost to follow suit.”
“He is a good lad around the place too. He will only get better and better.”
Brocton are also newcomers to the Midlands Premier League, however, Herbert is expecting another tough test for his side tomorrow night against a side full of confidence after winning the league in the previous campaign.
“We have had Brocton watched and they are a very strong team, their striker Morgan Payne, the Haddaway brothers and wide man Christian Blanchett are all match winners and are a big threat.”
“I predict this as our toughest game so far and we will need to be at the very top of our game to get anything out of the game.”
