From the Dugout with Chris Herbert: Winsford United (A)

“Hanley are one of the favourites for the league, so it was important not to get beat by them, but in the end, I think we had done enough to win the game. But we need to build on that in what will be a very tough game at Winsford.

“Hoppo (Rob Hopley) and Jonah have been excellent, it’s not a surprise to me, the lads know the game and still have enough pace to cope with the younger strikers in the league. It’s credit to them the shape they keep themselves in. We had to WD40 Hoppo up on Tuesday, but he is ready for today’s Derby game.

“We are happy with the start we have made, we are scoring goals and looking solid at the back in the first two league games.

“Winsford will be a very tough game. They have some very good lads that would walk into most teams in the league. Our lads have set standards and we want them to keep improving week in week out, we are looking fit and strong and we already know we have quality, it’s always about putting it all together.

“Discipline is key to me, we can’t have another season like last season where bookings and sending offs cost us in a big way. We are desperate to not accumulate bookings and reds cards, it cost us badly. We feel we are in a better place than last season squad wise and can cover it. But we need every player available as often as possible. And suspensions create problems.

“Get behind the lads today as we look to continue our good start to the season! Up the Greens!
