Liam Fitzpatrick Commits his Future to ’74

1874 Northwich are delighted to announce that forward Liam Fitzpatrick has committed to sign a contract with the club.

Liam joined 1874 from Sandbach United, making the jump to step 5 with ease and putting in consistent high-level performances which have made him a firm fan favourite.

We caught up with Fitzy after committing to the club:

“It was an easy decision for me”.

“It’s not just been a great start to the season for me, but for the club as a whole”.

“Everyone involved with the club has been exceptional since I arrived here but most importantly the fans have been unbelievable, they are simply the best around and have played a huge part in my decision to commit for the season”.

Manager Chris Herbert added: “Fitzy has been superb for us since he has come in”.

“His performances have been deserving of a deal committing him to the club. His never say die attitude, his aggressiveness and his threat when he drives at teams is infectious to the players around him”.

“I’ve said it before in the changing rooms that he sets the tone of the game whether it be a big tackle or a bursting run through on the attack, he has this knack of getting us on the front foot”.

“He is a fans favourite and that helps us keep the likes of Fitzy loving his football, he is still only 23, he has so much more improvement to come in his game which is what we as a coaching team will help him with

An eye on Saturday:

Both Liam Fitzpatrick and Chris Herbert issued rallying cries to the 1874 supporters ahead of the trip to Guiseley.

“Saturday is one of them games where we need every little advantage we can get. We need our fans and the town of Northwich to arrive at Guiseley in their numbers, they all give us that extra advantage”, said Herbert.

“We want our fans to outnumber Guiseley and give the lads that extra bit of energy in the game. We all talk about the importance of the fans in the changing rooms and the lads want to win every game for them”.

Fitzy called for the ‘74 following to be fully behind the lads, “Saturday will be a tough game, but with the loyal 1874 support I’m sure we’ll continue this amazing run”.

Chris added finally “We are all as one and we know the fans will give us everything they have got when we all go in to battle together”.
