ATHERTON LR 2-1 1874 NORTHWICH PRE SEASON FRIENDLY 8TH JULY 2017

Two goals in a three minute spell mid way through the second half condemned a young 1874 Northwich team to a 2-1 pre-season defeat at Crilly Park.

Fielding a team containing a number of trialists and players from the under 21 team, 1874 Northwich enjoyed the better of the first half going close to scoring on several occasions before and after taking the lead in the 30th minute. LR defender David Davies turned a Taylor Kennerley cross into his own net.

Playing down the slope in the second half the home side gained the upper hand, although 1874 had two good chances to score before LR equalised in the 68th minute when Leto took advantage of a mix up in the 1874 defence to score, three minutes later Ed Walker fired home to give LR the lead.

In the closing minutes LR goalkeeper Ben Purdham pulled off a spectacular flying save to palm away a Kennerley free kick, while 1874 keeper Greg Hall saved a Leto penalty.
