DOUBLES FOR SCOTT AND JAKE

1874 made it two consecutive wins as their pre season programme continued with a trip to Stainton Park on Tuesday and once again there was a very good following of 1874 supporters who must have been pleased with the progress made by their team especially as the team came from a goal behind to eventually run out comfortable winners.

The home side certainly “came out of the traps” quicker than their visitors and as such went in front in the first minute of the game when Carl peers slotted the ball home.

However the sides were soon level when Jake Parker scored in the 12th minute finishing off an excellent build up involving several players and exceptional patience in the buildup play. then in the 24th minute 1874 took the lead thanks to Scot McGowan’s cool finish.

The rest of the first half didn’t produce any goals although both keepers were kept fairly busy and both dealt comfortably with what was thrown at them

After the interval 1874 stepped up the pace again and didn’t have to wait too long to increase their lead as Parker netted his second goal in the 48th minute following a good passage of play by 1874.

There was a continued period of good football by 1874 as they kept possession well whilst switching the play from side to side whilst trying to create openings and at the same time frustrating the home side.

Another goal was deserved and it came in the 62nd minute when McGowan was again in the right position to apply the finish to a good passage of football by 1874.

This goal completed the scoring for the game although both sides did continue to create chances but both custodians dealt comfortably with what was thrown at them
