Neil Chappell

Chappie leaves the Club

As many supporters will now know, Neil has decided to finish his football career to enable him to concentrate on time at home with his family. Whilst everyone at the Club is obviously very sad to lose Neil, we all understand the decision he has taken.

During the year that Chappie was with us, he played an important role in helping the team to progress. He made history as one of the first 1874 players to be placed on a contract and went on to become our Captain this season.

Upon returning from his holiday, Neil told Manager Ian Street that he needed to devote more time to his family and that his football commitments were getting in the way of that.

Chappie has asked the Club to pass on his ‘massive’ thanks to everyone at 1874, especially to Ian and his Management Team, his team mates and brilliant supporters. He said he has loved every minute of being involved in this great Club and that he will be down to the Barton Stadium as often as he can (with his beautiful daughter) to support the lads.

We would like to thank Chappie for his all efforts over the last year and wish him the very best. He is a big character, both on and off the pitch, and will certainly be missed.
