It has been a great start to life at 1874 Northwich for Tom Morris. Having joined this summer from Sandbach United, he has cemented his place, not only on the team sheet, but also as a key member of the club.
“I thought it would be good. But it is better. Having met the gaffer and other staff, I just wanted to get going. We have a certain something. It’s brilliant to be part of it. A proper club where there is no distinction between those on, or off the pitch.”
Morris has partnered with club captain, Matty Fenton, at the centre of defence and together have seen out three wins out of three, with neither missing a minute. They also combined to put us ahead against last season’s playoff finalists, Lichfield City.
“It was clear very early on that we could trust each other totally. There’s the added feature, that we are trying to be disruptive as a pairing in the opposition third and not just being defensively tight at our end. He is a great leader and our partnership will only grow.”
“We are now really starting to form a tight bond as a group, this will only become stronger as the season goes on.”
“We are prepared for a busy time. I’m going to thoroughly enjoy it. Whatever happens at Longridge doesn’t define our season. But I do fancy a run in the cups. Just like any other opposition, we will let them worry about us rather than us worry about them.”
Tuesday night saw our first clean sheet of the season and the first for the club for Tom Morris. It was no easy task with the team fighting right until the final whistle.
“The atmosphere at Brocton was as good as it gets. When I look back at this season, it might be one of the matches I remember most fondly.”
Both of our Saturday’s and Tuesday’s attendances were the highest in the division and this was helped by our strong support.
“The fans have been brilliant for me personally and for us as a team. I give everything I’ve got when I put the 74 shirt on. Thanks for the Welcome from all staff/players and fans.”
“Safe travelling and I’ll see you at full time.”
