Last Saturday saw a new era begin at 1874, Damian Crossley took charge of his first game in charge of the club with a 1-1 draw at Hednesford Town.
“There were promising signs, we started very well, dominating the first 25 mins or so. After that we showed some real character, especially after we went down to 10. Overall a draw was probably about right”
Stalybridge Celtic arrive at Townfield having a great season and are pushing for promotion “I’m expecting them to try and control the game. There’s some pressure on them at the minute and they’ll be looking for a reaction to last week’s defeat.”
“We’ll approach it the same way as we always will. We’ll try and dominate certain aspects of the game, control their threats and expose their weaknesses.”
After two weeks in charge, Damian had nothing but praise for the squad “The lads have been great, they’ve worked hard in training and tried to implement everything I’ve asked of them. I’m loving it. It’s the busiest I’ve ever been but it’s been brilliant so far.
With Ellis Allen suspended after picking up a red card in the 1-1 draw last weekend, Damian has called on experienced keeper Josh Ollerenshaw to help out today “Obviously with Ellis only missing for one game we wanted to get someone who would help us out in the short term”
Finally, Damian added the importance of our supporters “We were delighted to see so many make the trip last week. The fans are so important to us, we all want to entertain and excite them and hopefully they’ll continue to come in great numbers and get behind us”
We wish Damian and all the lads the best in today’s game vs Stalybridge Celtic at Townfield.
