1874 NORTHWICH 2-3 ALTRINCHAM RESERVES FRIENDLY 1ST JULY 2017
At Middlewich Leisure Centre 3g by Garry Clarke

1874 Northwich kicked off their pre season campaign with a good work out against Altrincham Reserves at Middlewich Leisure Centre, although they eventually lost the game 2-3.

An impressive performance saw 1874 dominate the first half firing numerous shots just off target, but as both sides made multiple changes in the second half the game evened its self out with opportunities at both ends as both keepers were called into action.

After a goalless first half 1874 took the lead when Joe Woolley delivered a vicious free kick from 25 yards which the Altrincham keeper could only help into the net. Altrincham equalised shortly afterwards when centre back Sam Heathcote thundered home a long range free kick.

Scott McGowan restored 1874’s advantage turning home a Joe Woolley cross, Altrincham equalised again moments later when Darius Palmer scored.

Altrincham grabbed a late winner when Rob Kennerley scuffed a miss hit shot past a wrong footed Greg Hall.
