Football Update – 10 January

Following on from the recent signings of Ashley Stott and Jack Woolley, Ian has once again moved to strengthen his squad further by registering midfielder George Riley.  George has previously played for New Mills and Glossop NE and therefore comes to us with good experience.  We are pleased to welcome George to our Club and wish him well with 1874.

It has been a very frustrating period for everyone over the last few weeks, due to the lack of games.  Our Management Team have continued to work hard despite the lack of matches and have added quality players to our squad however apart from the excellent win at Bootle before Christmas and the useful friendly against Altrincham Reserves last Saturday, they have not been able to see their plans develop.  We hope that the weather is kinder in the coming weeks and we get to see some football!

Ian is extremely keen to hold another ‘Meet the Manager’ evening, to give him the chance to catch up with supporters in person.  He would like to update on issues relating to the squad, give his thoughts on the season so far and perhaps plans for the future and is genuinely happy to answer questions that supporters have about ‘on the field’ issues at our Club.

This event will take place on Wednesday 20 January at Lostock Social Club, starting at 8.15pm.  Also in attendance will be Paul Bowyer, Stu Tulloch and hopefully one of our players.  Members of the Board will also be on hand, should supporters have questions relating to ‘off the field’ matters too.

This is one ‘fixture’ that will not be rained off!  Therefore it would be good to see as many supporters as possible in attendance.

Up the ’74!
