Our Club is run by the fans for the fans and we can’t do that without volunteers. We are very fortunate to have great people who give their time and skills to help run our Club but there is always room for more. Whether you are a financial whizz, fantastic at making brews and flipping burgers or if you just like to do practical work around the ground, there is plenty to do and opportunities galore. So don’t be shy, speak to a board member or fill out the form below and get involved. Whether it is for one hour per month, or taking on a long term project, all help will be gratefully received. And it doesn’t need to be something that we are already doing….you may have skills that you can apply to running a football club, that we haven’t considered. You might want to be involved in our community projects, or our Junior set up or walking footballers, it doesn’t have to be about the first team. The only restriction is that any volunteer working with children will need to go through our vetting process and be DBS cleared.
Current Volunteering Opportunities
We are currently looking for people to be a part of a rota for the following roles:
Volunteer Stewards
The role of the steward is to help to provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at our home matches and to provide a visible point of contact for fans, in cases of incidents or just as a point of information. We do not expect you to take on any safety critical or security roles, it is purely around customer service. You would be the first point of contact if any fans have any issues.
Cleaning – Kitchen and Bar areas
We would like to set up a rota of people willing to wash up the players dishes and clean down the kitchen surfaces. In addition, after each home match, we need to tidy the bar area, wipe the tables and hoover the carpet. This could be done on a Saturday evening or sometime in the week (before the next game).
Ground Preparation – 31st January 2026
Barnton FC are playing on Friday 30th January, the night before our match against Abbey Hulton. This means that we will have a short turn round time to get the ground and pitch prepared for our match. We are looking for people to come up to Townfield on the morning of 31st January to get the ground ready, this will include divoting, emptying the bins at the ground, cleaning the changing rooms and public areas. Any help that you can provide would be very welcome.
Help in the Café – Tuesday 10th February 2026
We are short of cover in the Cafe on Tuesday 10th February 2026, when we host Stone Old Alleynians. There are two activities:
- serving drinks and food pre-match and at half time in the Cafe
- serving players’ food after the match and tidying up the kitchen
Fundraising – Tuesday 10th February 2026
We are looking for one volunteer to help with the fundraising activities at the Stone Old Alleynians game. This involves working with current volunteers in the sale of 50/50, golden goal, raffle tickets and the football card.
For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Maggie Coats, society@1874northwich.com, tel: 07808765110, alternatively, please complete the form below. You can be an active part of our fantastic club. It is great to be able to help the Club develop and the more people that get involved the quicker we can improve. Come on, give it a try…..
