1874 Northwich Under 21’s partnership with UCFB

Recently, Wayne Goodison and U21 Coach Joe Lally, met with representatives of University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) to discuss a partnership with them and our Under 21’s for next season.

In essence, it has been agreed that Wayne and Joe will coach and work with their Elite level Academy side, on a four-day a week basis at UCFB facility with a view to helping them develop.  In return, 1874 will benefit from the partnership by having access to the pool of players to train with us and represent our U21 team and, where ability fits, the first team.

The UCFB model is aimed at bringing in high calibre age 18+ players, many who have been at Academies and pro-clubs as well as overseas players.  There are UCFB campuses at Wembley, Etihad Stadium and Burnley FC. All the degrees are football industry based to attain relative qualifications.

Following the agreement, Alex Dickinson, 1874 Board member for Youth Development commented “This is a significant development and one that strengthens our 1874 model and aims.  This is to develop our own players for sustainability and growth going forward.  We are pleased that UCFB has recognised 1874 as a club that is keen and forward thinking to promote and develop local, young talent and we look forward to a fruitful partnership”.

1874 Northwich has arranged a trial day for our Under 21 team on Saturday 25 May, 12-2pm at Moss Farm 3G, Northwich, CW8 4BG.  For further information, please contact [email protected].
