A word with Woolley

Ahead of the match against Leek Town this weekend, joint manager Matt Woolley is hoping for his ’74 side to impose themselves against the league leaders.

1874 host an in-form Leek Town side that count several ex-74 players within their ranks, with ex-manager Wayne Goodison also in the opposition dugout. Despite lining up against familiar faces, Woolley still expects a tough task.

“We have watched Leek enough and can see how much of a successful season they are having.”

“They have quality players throughout the squad and its important this weekend we have a plan to disrupt their current form and impose our game on them.”

1874 head into the game on Saturday after last weeks game against Hanley being postponed, and will be boosted ahead of kick off by a trio of new arrivals. Woolley has however been pleased with recent performances, and hopes the squad continues to develop together.

“The new lads have trained really well and already fitted into the group. They also bolster our squad, add some quality.”

“We are a young squad and all of need to continue to learn and develop together. Most pleasingly for me is that the last two games I have felt we have been competitive and in the game for long periods, probably creating more than we have done for a long time.”

“If we continue to do this we know eventually the results will start to come.”
