During the recent game in the Hallmark Securities league between 1874 Northwich and Runcorn Linnets both sets of supporters joined forces in support of a campaign started by 1874 Northwich goalkeeper Greg Hall.
Greg, a teaching assistant at St Cuthberts School, Withington, Manchester had recently been sporting a natty Blue Bandana during games. News got out that Greg was wearing the headgear in support of a young girl named Gracie who has terminal cancer.
Greg had pledged to donate £10 to a fund started in her name that will be supporting Gracie’s family and The Brain Tumour Trust, each time he wore the Bandana.
The support provided by both sets of fans was superb and 1874 Northwich are pleased to announce that a total of £725 was raised via a combination of the match day collection, the sale of bandanas in support of Greg and a number of very generous donations from amongst other Maine Road FC and Padiham FC.
A cheque for the £725 will be presented to Greg so that he can in turn pass it on to Gracie’s family.
1874 Northwich FC would like to thank both sets of fans, Runcorn Linnets FC and every one whose generous donations have resulted in raising this tremendous amount.
