Arrangements for our friendly on Wednesday 12 October
Supporters will have noted that our friendly match away to Unicorn Athletic, has had to be cancelled. Therefore, Manager Ian Street acted very quickly to arrange another game in its place.
On Wednesday 12 October, we will welcome Conwy Borough to the St Luke’s Barton Stadium, for a return friendly match following our pre-season trip to the Y Morfa Stadium in July. Kick-off is at 8pm.
The Club would like to advise supporters that our usual admission prices will not apply, instead we would welcome donations to help towards the cost of staging the game. Please note that the Social Club will not be accessible before the match and at half time, however Deb’s Café will be open for refreshments.
We look forward to hosting Conwy Borough in what will be a good workout for both clubs.
Arrangements for our Macron Cup tie against AFC Blackpool
We have also reached an agreement over our Macron Cup tie against AFC Blackpool. Following communication between both Clubs and the League Fixture Secretary over issues around the Clubs’ availability and that of the St Luke’s Barton Stadium, we are pleased to announce that the tie will be held on Friday 28 October with an 8pm kick off. However, it has been agreed that should 1874 be involved in an FA Vase replay on Wednesday 26 October, meaning a long journey to the North East with a late return, then our Macron Cup tie will be moved to Sunday 30 October, KO 3pm. Obviously the date of our match against AFC Blackpool will be known one week earlier, following our FA Vase tie with Billingham Synthonia on Saturday 22 October.
We are very pleased to have come to this amicable agreement with AFC Blackpool, which has recognised the issues of both Clubs and are grateful to the League for approving the decision. We are also appreciative of officials at Winsford United, for working with us on the availability of the St Luke’s Barton Stadium.
