Despite the defeat against City of Liverpool last weekend, Mark Jones has heaped praise on the players and hopes that the team will kick on and collect the three points at Vauxhall Motors this weekend.
1874 showed attacking promise in the first half, but were eventually undone by two quickfire goals in the second half.
“It was much better Saturday, we got the response off the lads we wanted, but unfortunately not the result we wanted.”
“The lads put a good shift in on a heavy pitch and the three lads that returned to the side after long tern injuries all did really well.”
One major boost ahead of the final run in of the season is the return of club captain Matty Fenton, who has been absent since the Boxing Day defeat. Jones was quick to highlight Fenton’s importance and praise his strength in character after his return.
“He is fantastic for us and has been brilliant all season. He’s been a big miss over the last 6 weeks it’s great to have him back.”
“I think he’s grown even more since having the captains arm band. We don’t or didn’t wanna rush him back, but the sort of lad he is once he got the all clear from the specialist he wanted to be back playing.”
Mark Jones is expecting a tough test against Vauxhall, but hopes that the team will return with the three points for the supporters.
“It’s another big game, all are at this moment. We know they will be strong and physical which we have to match. It’s gonna be a very tough game and we have to be ready to compete.”
“Hopefully we can get some results and get some smiles back on peoples faces over the next few weeks.”
