Mike Brandon

A ‘traditional’ English centre-forward who’s game is largely based around his aerial ability, strength and finishing, these attributes lead him to plunder no less than 37 goals in 1874’s inaugural campaign. However, his ability goes far beyond this in that he has great awareness and, as a result, he is able to create many opportunities for his team-mates.

Now aged 33, Mike has previously played for Chorley, Winsford and Alsager. Mike featured in all of 1874’s 49 games last season and it therefore came as little surprise when he was named as ‘Player of the Year’.

Mike netted his 50th goal for 1874 in a 1-1 draw at Ashton Athletic, becoming the first player to reach this milestone.

Previous clubs include Winsford United, Chorley, Rudheath Social and Middlewich Town.

Mike was the first player to score 50 goals for 1874, retired at the end of the season having played 138 games and scored 79 goals for the club.
