Club Person of the Year
Nominations to be submitted by Friday 24th April 2026
1874 supporters will remember that, just before the season began in July 2025, we sadly lost our dear friend and loyal supporter, Gary Halvorsen. Gary’s love for the club was unwavering, and his absence has been deeply felt throughout the 1874 Northwich family since his untimely passing.
Gary’s wife Karen works at the Skipton Building Society. In the weeks following his passing, Karen’s colleagues sought a meaningful way to honour his memory. Their generosity has resulted in a beautiful commemorative salver, creating a lasting tribute in Gary’s name.

Together, it was agreed that a new annual honour would be introduced – the Club Person of the Year award. This award recognises an individual whose dedication, commitment and impact have made a significant difference to 1874 Northwich, in any of it’s forms. This could be an individual involved with supporting the first team, the juniors or the walking football section. We hope that Gary would have approved.
There are some fantastic people working in all parts of our Club and it would be lovely to recognise their contribution, so please show your appreciation by nominating that person who really makes a difference.
As we approach the End of Season presentation on Friday 8th May, we invite everyone to submit their nomination for the inaugural Club Person of the Year award. Unlike most awards that will be presented that evening, this is not a player award. It is intended for a volunteer who goes that extra mile for the part of the 1874 family with which they are involved.
Please send your nomination by Friday 24th April, along with a few lines explaining why your nominee is deserving, to Vicki at – secretary@1874northwich.com . We realise that there is not much time and so for this initial award, a panel (made up from members of the 1874 Northwich Board) will review all submissions and select the recipient.
1874 Northwich extends its heartfelt thanks to the Skipton Building Society for this thoughtful and generous gesture. We were pleased to host them at our home match against Stourport Swifts on the 20th December 2025, when along with Karen, Georgia and Tom Halvorsen, they donated the salver to 1874. This award is a fitting and meaningful way to remember Gary and the legacy he leaves within our Club.
