1874 Northwich under 21s came out on the wrong end of a nine goal thriller losing 5-4 at Rylands in the North West Development League.
Still searching for their first league win of the season, 1874 got off to a flying start at Gorsey Lane in Warrington going 2-0 up in the first ten minutes.
Good inter passing between Aaron Clayton and Jordan Henry set up Chad Lowe who fired home from the edge of the area in the 5th minute. Five minutes later Lowe turned provider delivering a cross from the right which Henry headed home.
Lowe went close to increasing 1874’s lead with a header from a corner in the 28th minute but was denied by a good save from Rylands’ keeper Dan Jennings.
Rylands pulled a goal back in the 30th minute through Jacob Stretch who slid in to force the ball home at the far post following a low cross from the left flank.
The home side drew level in the 42nd minute when Callum Burgess struck from the penalty spot after a team mate had been brought down by a clumsy challenge.
Rylands ended the first half in front thanks to a goal in the 45th minute by Kieran Evans who ran through the 1874 defence to slot the ball home.
After the break 1874 drew level in the 49th minute through Lowe, who applied the finishing touch to a Henry cross from close range.
1874 regained the lead in the 56th minute with the goal of the game. Clayton picked up the ball outside the area, embarked on a mesmerizing Messi like dribble through the Ryalnds area before coolly slotting the ball home.
Two goals in two minutes from substitute Jack Fitzsimmons settled the game in the host’s favour, although in the closing minutes 1874 had enough chances to have snatched what would have been a deserved point.
