After recording the first 3 points of the season last Saturday, Wayne Goodison is keen to continue the winning streak and consistent performances as we visit CoL in the FA Trophy tomorrow.
“It is important to try to win every game, which is what we always do! I think more so a good performance and to see us build on some of the things we are trying to improve on is just as important.”
Speaking about the win at Newcastle, Wayne was pleased that 1874 set up solidly and kept yet another clean sheet.
“We were obviously pleased to get the points and another clean sheet. We thought on the day in a game of few chances we were slightly better than Newcastle in that area and possibly could have scored at least one more.”
New recruit Maxwell Chimenes, a striker from Newcastle Town, goes straight into the squad on Sunday, and will be looking to open his goal scoring account for 1874. Speaking about the new recruits, Wayne was pleased with how they have immediately fit into the squad.
“All three are available, and certainly I expect Elliott and Max to figure. Mike will be with us as we want to get him in and around the team. All have really good potential and fit what we look for in players to join us and they have fitted in well with the other players.”
Should 1874 progress on Sunday, they will play host to Witton Albion in the next round.
