We are thrilled to confirm that goalkeeper Tony Aghayere has committed his future with the club after signing a one-year deal ahead of the 21/22 campaign.
Tony played a key role in the curtailed 2019/20 season helping us finish with the best defensive record and he explained he wants to “invest his future with the club.”
He said: “The club is extremely well run; we’ve got a great set of lads and we all want to step up and progress further.
“I’m very excited and happy to be here and I’m looking forward to testing myself in the Northern Premier League again.
“For us it is all about hard work now and making sure when the season starts, we’re ready to win football matches.
Tony has played twice before at this level, and he believes that the addition of goalkeeping coach Chris Appleton will only benefit him as the season progresses.
“Chris has come in and has done an amazing job so far.
“As a goalkeeper it can be difficult if you don’t have someone giving you the technical training that you need, but this year I’ve had that, and I feel like I’m physically the fittest and strongest I have been.
“We’ve got a big game this weekend which I’m looking forward to and then the rest of pre-season is about me building up my game time and match fitness ahead of August 14th.
In a message to our supporters, Aghayere thanked them for their dedicated support and pledged to “do his all for the club.”
“Football is like a religion for me, and everyday I wake up thinking about how I can get better and how I can help bring success to the club.
“I’ve always been passionate about football since I was a kid and I still have that same energy and passion now and I will do all I can to help the team win!”
Our next game is this Saturday against Runcorn Town in the Macron Cup final.
