Club Statement – Fixture Abandonment update

On Saturday 13th September, the fixture between Tividale and 1874 Northwich was abandoned at the start of the second half of the match.  The Club is now able to provide an update regarding this situation.

After the abandonment of the fixture, the club were asked to submit our match observations. The club fully complied with this process and would like to thank those who came forward to provide witness statements. On receipt of observations and statements from both clubs, Sport Integrity Matters (on behalf of Birmingham FA and Cheshire FA) issued two charges against 1874 Northwich FC. Following a hearing, which was completed in November 2025, the panel confirmed that the charge in relation to an alleged racist comment was not proven. The Club pleaded guilty to the second charge, of team members surrounding the referee.

We have subsequently received confirmation from the Midland Football League that, after considering the evidence and the outcome of the FA process, the original match score (3-0) stands as a completed match. This decision was made in accordance with the game’s standardised rules. 1874 Northwich FC welcomes the decisions from both the FA and the Midland Football League and we sincerely thank everyone who represented the club during the investigation.

The club takes its responsibilities very seriously. We have a supporter code of conduct and expect everyone attending our matches to respect the rules.  The Board of 1874 Northwich FC reiterates that it does not tolerate any form of abuse and will continue to strive to ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome at all our games.

We are pleased that this matter is now closed.
