1874 Northwich can today confirm that club captain, Matty Fenton, has joined Northern Premier League side, Leek Town.
It’s no secret that Matty is a brilliant footballer and he thoroughly deserves this move up the pyramid. We know he is joining a fantastic club, who will continue his development.
Matty has been instrumental since joining the club in the 2021/22 season, so we would like to thank Matty for his efforts over the last four seasons and wish him all the best for the future.
Matty first joined our U21s side in 2022, before making his senior debut in February 2022. Over the three seasons in the NPL West, Matty featured 86 times, scoring 9 goals.
Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Matty agreed to stay at the club, in order to face the unknown adventures of the Midland Football League. Matty started in 45 out of the 46 matches played last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists.
This takes Matty to 131 appearances, in which he scored 15 goals – an outstanding tally for a central defender.
