From the Dugout with Chris Herbert: Romulus (H)

1874 continue their league campaign this evening, as Romulus travel to Townfield. After a good point on the road, Chris Herbert’s side are looking for their first win in 3 games.

Despite not winning on Saturday, Chris was pleased with the efforts from the youthful ’74 side on display.

“Obviously we go in to every game wanting the 3 points, but with all the injuries, suspensions and holidays, we were happy with the point at a very tough place to go.”

“Our recent form has not been good enough, but Saturday was a clear improvement from a very young side with an average age of 21.”

“It’s great experience for these boys and it’s up to them to keep themselves in the forefront of our thinking when we pick the squad/team.”

Saturday saw 1874 yet again concede first whilst in league action, and whilst disappointing, Herbert spoke of the challenges around squad availability during the last few weeks being a potential factor to the inconsistent starts to matches.

“Conceding first is not a trait we want, but the amount of changes and big players missing, sometimes the changes take time to settle in their positions.”

“Tonight (Romulus) we are without Matty Fenton and Ellis Farrar, so we have to make 2 more changes again.”

“Every game is tough at the moment, and it’s all about getting the 3 points. We need to kick on again from Saturdays draw and build on that performance and really get at them.”

“After Tuesday, we have a full squad to choose from, with defenders Matty Fenton and Ellis Farrar, midfielders Matty Woolley and Chris McCann, leading scorer Joel Jones and Wideman Josh Oultram who has now committed to 1874 Northwich, all available for selection.”

“Hopefully we can get a big crowd on both Tuesday and Saturday and get behind the lads and help push us to victory.”

“We are all in it together.”
