From the Dugout with Chris Herbert: Shifnal Town

Ahead of today’s crunch match against Shifnal Town, Callum Waters caught up with 1874 boss Chris Herbert, who is hoping his side continue their winning streak in the league.

“Last weekend it was a good result at Stourport Swifts, they are a decent team, but I think we were powerful, and aggressive in the press and never let them settle for 90 minutes.”

“We are against what I described as the best footballing side (with us) in the league today, it’s up to us to not let them get in their rhythm and play.”

“They have some excellent players like holding midfielder Kyle Bennett, left winger Joe Cuff, and former TNS defender Aaron Simms who I worked with at Conwy 12 years ago when he was a youngster.”

“These are all lads we need to not be on their game today and we have to make that happen. We have our own lads that they will have to worry about a lot of our lads as well.”

“We will be up for it and there won’t be any excuses. When you play big games we have to have big players turning up and driving the lads on. Big players turn up for the big games.”

“As usual I will give the rallying cry to our amazing fans, these are the games where we really need you, we need to make Townfield Lane a horrible place for teams to come.”

“The fans can help us massively with that by being loud and getting behind the lads on the pitch, giving them that extra yard.”

“The coaching staff and players look forward to seeing you there.”
