Arrangements have now been made to play our Mid Cheshire Cup match against Barnton FC.
As supporters will be aware, the draw for the semi-final of the competition was made back in November and this paired us with Barnton FC. Arrangements were then made to play the match in January however due to the appalling weather, the original game was postponed.
Since then, both Clubs have tried to find a suitable date to play but each time this has not been possible due to issues with the pitch or NWC League games taking precedence.
Following last week’s postponement, conversations have taken place with the Mid Cheshire FA about the difficulty each Club faces in playing this match, due to the number of League games yet to be played. However after discussing the limited options, it has been agreed that the match will be played on MONDAY 11 APRIL at TOWNFIELD, BARNTON. We appreciate Barnton’s co-operation in agreeing to host the game.
This does mean that it is only 24 hours before our League match against AFC Darwen at home on Tuesday evening and follows quickly after our away game at Nelson on Saturday and therefore will be a huge challenge for our players and management team. However 1874 is committed to this competition and has therefore not considered forfeiting the game.
We are sure that supporters will appreciate the difficulties the club has faced and will show their usual fantastic support to the team for their efforts next week.
