Defender Tom Morris Commits to Sign for the Upcoming Season

1874 Northwich are excited to announce that Tom Morris has agreed to join the club this coming season.

Tom, 29, is a commanding central defender with vast experience in and around Step 5.

He started his career at Port Vale, moving on to a spell in Ireland playing at Longford Town where he enjoyed a successful spell in Ireland playing a part in winning the league title.

Moving back to England, Tom joined Stafford Rangers, then Kidsgrove, and Congleton Town where he featured against ‘74 on a number of occasions.

Spells in the Northern Premier League followed first with Hyde United and then with City of Liverpool which earnt him a move to Macclesfield FC.

More recently Tom has been captain of Stockport Town, and it was here where Tom single handedly sent 1874 out of the Cheshire Senior Cup by scoring 2 goals against us.

Manager Chris Herbert had the following to say about Tom joining the club:

“Tom is a big strong ball-playing centre half. His experience is going to be huge for us this season”.

“As I’ve said from the start, the core of the team has to be experienced and full of leaders, and Tom certainly is that”.

“He is dominant in the air and reads the game extremely well. His attitude has shone through already and will bring the best out of the lads around him.”

We hope you enjoy your spell with us Tom, we’re all looking forward to seeing you in action in ‘74 colours!
