1874 Northwich are pleased to announce the signing of defender Markell Foulds, who will join the club on dual registration alongside Barnoldswick Town.
Markell has a wealth of youth football behind him including a scholarship with Salford City and for the UCFB Academy.
Speaking on how his dual registration will work, Markell outlined he wants to perform as well as he can do with Barnoldswick so he can break into our first team
He said: “I want to fight for my place here and I have a good relationship with Barnoldswick so I want to play as much as I can do there so that I can earn my position with 1874.
“Through my experiences with Salford we were all about high pressing and that’s what I’ve seen from 1874 and I believe that I suit that.
“Whilst I was at Clitheroe for the past two seasons, I did get a bit of a shock going into men’s football, but I had two great managers there and I soon adapted to the level.
Markell is once again joining up with our Co-Manager Wayne Goodison who has coached him during his time at UCFB and Foulds added he enjoys the style of football that Wayne brings.
“Wayne is a great coach and has stayed patient with me throughout my time at University and I’m thankful I’ve got this opportunity.
“I like that he wants his teams to play out of the back and it suits the way I play too.
“Having that relationship with Wayne already makes me very comfortable being here and I’m looking forward to getting started.
“I haven’t played too much men’s football so far so it’s important to make the most of my playing time at Barnoldswick so that I can break into the first team here.
“I can’t wait for my chance to play for the club. Obviously, the club dominated the North West Counties in the 19/20 season and there’s exciting times ahead which I can’t wait to be a part of!”
