1874 Northwich are delighted to announce that exciting Morecambe Academy graduate Jack McKean has committed to sign for the club for the 2024/25 season.
McKean, 18, is an attacking minded midfielder and was part of a record-breaking Morecambe U19s side that smashed the record for the most points accumulated across a single season in their respected division.
Along the way to securing the title McKean scored 11 goals and assisted a further 11 to end up as joint top goals / assists for the season, and Herbert spoke about how he hopes his attacking prowess will suit his sides style of play.
“Jack is an exciting talent and will be good for our front men.”
“He can create and is good in tight spaces where he can receive the ball with his back to goal and also tries to face defenders up at every opportunity and drive at them.”
“He has that something different and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Living in Warrington, and with his brother part of the successful 1874 U21s set up, Jack is no stranger to the 1874 story, and spoke about his excitement to get started.
“I met up with Chris the gaffer and he expressed his and the club’s goals for the next few seasons and I was immediately attracted.”
“I’ve been really impressed with the way the clubs ran, from the staff to the fans. I want to get the club promoted and I believe my goals and assists will excite and put on a show for the fans.”
