1874 Northwich are excited to announce the signing of the much sought after right fullback Niall Osborne, thanks to the fans contributions to this season’s boost the budget scheme.
Osborne played most of his youth football at Liverpool, featuring in their impressive U21s side that included players such as Jarell Quansah and Stefan Bajcetic, and has massively impressed throughout pre-season for 1874.
Interest in Osborne from clubs across the football pyramid has been high, with professional outfits also being interested in his signature. After Niall agreed to sign last night, 1874 boss Chris Herbert has spoken of his delight at getting this signing across the line.
“Niall is someone we wanted from the off. There has been so much interest in him that we thought we wouldn’t be able to get him over the line. But to be fair to Niall he has been honest throughout and has kept us informed.”
“His attitude is a different class on and off the pitch, and it has been clear to everyone that he is a top player at such a young age.”
“We would never have been able to bring him in without the support of the fans and the help of the boost the budget, it just shows how important it is.”
“We are hoping to get one more big signing through the door next week if we can finalise it, but for now we have got Niall on board and that is a big boost for the squad.”
Niall spoke following his signing:
“The squad we have is very strong and full of quality and should not be at this level. But that’s for us to show. Hopefully I can play a big part in getting us challenging at the right end of the table and progress in cups.”
“Just want to repay their [Chris Herbert and Steve Burr] faith in me and giving me this opportunity. And obviously the supporters who have made me feel so wanted here. Bring on the season.”
Niall goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup match away at Stockport Town.
