The 27 Mile Blindfold Walk

Tony Rogers and other 1874 Northwich FC fans will be taking part in a 27 mile blindfolded sponsored charity challenge at Marbury Country Park in Northwich. The event will sponsor three challenges each one demanding a different level of fitness and ability. The group will also be joined by soldiers from the 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment.

The aim of the event is to walk 18 laps of a 1.5mile circuit with the objective of raising awareness and funds for ‘Blind Veterans UK’ and ‘Guide Dogs’.

These two charities have been chosen to primarily reflect the connections and relationships between Military and Civilian organisations and how they collaborate to achieve shared goals. In particular it is hoped to highlight the difficulties blind and partially sighted people undertake on a daily basis.

The challenge is expected to be physically demanding, mentally challenging and emotionally draining with over 10 hours of blind walking – plenty of time to reflect on the gift of sight that so many of us take for granted.

The only difference being that at the end of the event we take our blindfolds off.

The main event sponsors are PSS, Cappers, Peter Morgan, Greens, Michael Cooper, U Lock It, Cheshire Sheds and Cheshire West and Chester Council (Venue) with many other local businesses in support of the cause.

If you would like to make a contribution to this event then please do so with a donation direct to the charities via Virgin Money Giving.

On behalf of Tony and all at 1874 many thanks to all the sponsors and supporters who have already made donations

THERE WILL ALSO BE A BUCKET COLLECTION AT THE GAME TOMORROW
