Recap

1874 Northwich 0-1 Mossley
With Jack Owen

A first half goal was enough for Mossley to secure all 3 points in a scrappy game at Townfield.

A perfectly hit effort from the edge of the penalty box from Kai Payne, who slammed a strike in off the bar, was the difference.

The half fizzled out with neither side testing their opposition keeper again.

1874 had to look for a way back into the game, and a number of attacks were defended well by the visitors.

Mark Jones was shown a straight red card for a tackle when Eden Bailey broke through on goal, the defender appeared to win the ball cleanly.

Another red card for 1874 followed, Liam Buckley once again appeared to win the ball in the tackle but picked up a second yellow card of the game reducing 74 down to 9 men.

1874 had the ball in the net in the 4th minute of added time but the referee gave a foul on Mossley keeper Thomas Watson.

The referee brought an end to a tight game, where there wasn’t a bad foul throughout.
