1874 Northwich are back at Townfield for the start of the festive fixtures on Saturday as they host Stourport Swifts in the MFL Premier Division, looking to build on an impressive run of results which has seen us push right on to the promotion play off spots.
The Opposition
Stourport sit 14th in the table and last time out won 4-1 against Tividale and haven’t tasted defeat since the end of October. The Swifts have a resilient record of results against the promotion chasing sides, drawing with Coton Green and AFC Wolverhampton City in recent games.
Matches between the two sides have been in the favour of the ‘74, the two meetings last season went our way, a 2-0 home victory followed arguably our best away performance of the season in a 5-1 victory. ‘74 will have to be right at it from the get go this time out to ensure our favourable run of results against our visitors continues this Saturday.
1874 Northwich Form Guide
The Greens have taken 11 points from their last five matches, with recent results including:
• 2-1 win vs Studley
• 5-1 win vs Highgate United
• 2-2 draw vs Dudley Town
Sekouba Camara has made a flying start to his time with the club. His all energy, no nonsense approach in the midfield has seen him start the last 3 games and win POTM in his debut game. His tenacity in the middle of the park will be much needed to get a positive result this weekend.
Team News
1874 Northwich will be without Mike Hayes again through injury, putting him in doubt to feature again in 2025. Kyle Worsley is set for a return after missing last weekend due to unavailability, Dale Jennings remains a doubt due to an issue with his ankle.
One to Watch
1874 Northwich: Kyle Worsley
In a game where we will more than likely have the majority of the ball, Kyle will be crucial with his creativity and guile to cut open their defence and create opportunities on goal.
Opponent: Kai Adams
A hattrick last time out in their 4-1 victory over Tividale. Adams is the clear danger man for Swifts, with 7 in all competitions we will have to keep tabs on him in order to get a positive result.
