Recap

1874 went in to their second game in 48 hours, buoyed off the back of winning their first title on Monday night, hosting Landlords Winsford United at the Barton Stadium.

The game started at a fast pace, with Mike Brandon latching on to the end of a Stuart Wellstead through ball only to be brought down by the onrushing Winsford custodian for a penalty. Matthew Beadle collected the ball and smashed it home in to the top left corner of the goal to give the Greens a 1-0 lead.

Only 20 minutes in to the game, 1874 had a difficult 10 minutes, Winsford attacker Mellor got goal side of Paul Connor, which resulted in the 1874 full back bringing down the Winsford player and seeing a straight red card for the foul. The resulting freekick was blasted in to the 1874 wall and hit Craig Farnworth, unfortunately the referee adjudged Craig to have used his hand to stop the ball, and awarded Winsford a penalty in the process. This was saved by Greg Hall.
As 1874 adjusted to a back three, Dilan Lomas then injured his hamstring and had to withdraw on the 30 minute mark, meaning Louis James, normally a fullback, had to now play at center back.
1874 saw the half out 1-0 ahead.

The second half began with Winsford finding an equaliser, Kyle Riley was in a race with Craig Farnworth for an over the top ball, both players met it at the same time, with the ball looping over Hall who was stranded in the 1874 goal.
The game was very much in the balance, with the fight to gain control being between both midfields.
Winsford then took the lead, the defensive midfielder Stott hit a long range ball up field, which to the surprise of everyone, found its way through Greg Hall’s legs in the 1874 goal to give our landlords the 2-1 lead.
Only 5 minutes later, 1874 were level once again. Beadle converted another penalty after the Winsford fullback was penalised for handball in the area after some great work from Ryan Jackson.
The game ended with both sides having to settle for a point each after a good contest at the Barton Stadium.
